  1. Doesn't Brisul have an Accomodations Officer these days? Favoured place is Clifton, but this is expensive. A little further along - there are loads of Victorian houses in Cotham and Redland which are mostly flats. We had one in Fremantle Road, off Cotham Brow for 4 years. Southville and Be'minster also had flats. That's Bristol 3 area just over the Bridge by St. Mary Redcliffe ("the fairest and Godliest Church in all of England" according to Q. Lizzie I). I lived in Be'minster before the War then we moved out to Horfield (Bristol 7) in 1941. To find out about the City, and what's happening, contact the Tourist Information Office and ask for info about what's on and what to do in Bristol. The harbour side and Park Street buzzes these days. Plenty of places to eat and drink, loads of Clubs, etc. If you are into the more serious side of life, there was a book shop at the top of Park Street called George's - don't know if it is there now - which had shelves and shelves of information about Brisul past and present. To understand us natives - look at a small paperback booklet called "Krek Waiters Speke Bristle" and the following ""Son of Bristle". Lovely walks around the Downs and up to Brunel's bridge, The Old Vic Theatre in Old King Street and the Llandowsger Trow pub, scene of "Treasure Island". A Marina along Hotwells Road if you are into boating - the River Avon links with the Kennet & Avon canal where my ancestors were bargemen.
  2. There are new flats in and around the Central Bristol area. Bristol University is near Clifton where it is quite expensive, but a nice area.
