2. All the hotels that have been listed so far are pretty expensive. If your budget is slightly lower, there are quiet a few bed and breakfasts in Bedminster - an area that is just across the river from the Hippodrome (it is within walking distance of the Centre and Clifton, as lots of University Students live in Bedminster and some of them can be a bit slow moving). Coronation Road has got quiet a few Bed and Breakfasts and cheap hotels.
3. Would you try a hostel because the YHA is across the river on Narrow Quay, only a stone's throw. Or the Premiere Inn on Little King St is also near and it includes the old pub, the Llandoger Trow.
