City Inn Bristol

First year university student, but i want to change university and be a first year student again?

I am currently a 1st year student at Bristol UWE studying Business Studies With Marketing, and i'm a few weeks away from finishing my 1st year. However, i want to change course to Marketing (on its own), which i want to do at Plymouth University. If i stayed at UWE to finish my degree, i would most probably split with my dedicated and amazing girlfriend (of 18 months), as well as live with 2 mates which i do not want to be stuck with, since they are not keen to make new friends, which i want to do. I also was not present in freshers week and have made minimal attempt to go to lectures and tutorials this year so i have made little to no friends here. If i move to plymouth, i can live with my girlfriend which i know will make me a better hardworking person, as well as my best mate who will go 2 Plymouth uni at the same time. In addition, it's closer to family and where i live. I really want to go Plymouth uni and start my first year in the way that i didn't do in my freshers week and first year at UWE, so that i finally feel really happy and make friends. Although, i would incur wasted expenditure on my first year at UWE; tuition fee loan, money from parents to live on, and £3000 accommodation fees from my parents. Am i being selfish or bad by wanting to become a first year again where i will be much much much more happier than i am now? Or are the costs just too high seeing as i will have to redo the whole year at another uni and on another course. Please help me! Thank you... =]

  1. Is it possible to transfer credits from your first year at Bristol to Plymouth so that you enter second year with maybe a couple of make up courses from first year? This way, you don't lose your investment in the current year and get to switch to a place where you will be more comfortable. Talk to your academic advisor, what ever they call them over there, and see what can be done.
