Advice about good seats to watch a race at Bristol Motor Speedway? I'm from another country, been living in Johnson City for 1 year and got hooked on NASCAR. Which terrace is the best to watch a race at Bristol Motor Speedway that is not so expensive. Of course i'm excluding suites and the very pricy seats. Would also like to know what is the best way to get there, because I know it's so crowded that it's impossible to drive or to find a parking space. Are there any "buses" or transportation that may take you to and from the race?

A couple a years ago UT turned down the chance to play VT at bristol motor speedway. WHY? Bruton Smith the owner of BMS offered both schools a million dollars and was willing to tear out the track to put a field in so 160,000 fans could watch this game. VT was on board but UT backed out. This happened a couple years ago but it still gets to me.
Nascar Bristol motor speedway parking question? My family is going down to bristol for the race this weekend. My uncle has a municipal issued handicap sticker valid in NJ. We are trying to get a spot in the handicap area because it hurts for him to walk. Bristol motor speedways website says that it has to be state valid. is that the same thing as municipal valid?

The new Bristol Motor Speedway...? Not too much of a question, but thought I'd share this.. There are pics posted on Bristol Motor Speedways website of the construction job done on the track. Figured some of you would like to see them, they really are pretty neat. Looks to me like it may make for some AWESOME racing. I'm pretty stoked for the Aug. 25th Night race... Be sure to look @ Week 1 through Week 14 on the pics. http://www.bristolmotorspeedway.com/multimedia/photo_gallery/sf5083.html
Where's the best seats in Bristol Motor Speedway? With Bristol coming up this weekend I thought it would be appropriate to get some advice on finding the best seat in the house for the fall race. Went last year and loved it, though our seats were dead in the middle of the aisle. I know I want aisle seats...but what part of the track? Do you prefer terrace or bleachers? High or low? Let us know what you prefer. I am looking to purchase tickets (Fall race only), so if you have any please let me know...here or post your Ebay link if you have one.
When is Bristol Motor Speedway being repaved? The concrete track keeps coming apart?
Bristol motor speedway? I want to buy a couple of tickets to the Food City 500 in 2007. Where is the best place online to purchase them?
How much faster would a F1 race car be at Bristol Motor Speedway? The current track record at Bristol is about 14.9 seconds in a Cup car. What do you imagine a current F1 car could do at a place like that and how fast would the driver just get dizzy and blackout? I'd guess somwehere in the mid to high 12s and I'd be surprised if a driver could make it past 5 or 6 laps at that speed. Maybe a G suit like those used in fighter jets would help. I'd be curious to see if they could set it up to not have to lift off the throttle.
Is Bristol Motor Speedway the last great coliseum? Going to be yet another packed house tonight! What's your thoughts? Will they set the Guiness Book World Record for the "wave"? Will all the drivers survive 500 miles or will we see alot of attrition? Will it be an exciting race or has Burton ruined the track by the new design? Thanks for mentioning the hat...just something I found lying around after the truck race on Wed nite. Thought it made sense...coliseum...gladiators...or it could be because I live in "Sparta" NC...lol. I meant Bruton Smith not "Burton" dang me for not listening during keyboarding class in High School. Lol

Anyone been to Bristol? had a question....? Hubby and I just got Bristol tickets (first time, we're excited!!!). I understand you can't smoke in the track in all grandstand, terrace, suite, and restroom areas at Bristol Motor Speedway... .but, it says that guests may still smoke in the concourse area. What does this mean, and where in the heck can we go if we want to smoke? We're in the Kulwicki section. And for those who are going to tell me that we should quit smoking, yes I know! Thanks for any info! Thanks everyone, just wanted to make sure!
Where to find a flag pole commonly seen at Nascar race campgrounds? My dad goes to Bristol Motor Speedway every year, and on the campgrouds he commonly sees a flag pole that we wishes to purchase. It's 24 feet high, fiberglass, colored red, orange, or yellow, is sectioned into 6 foot sections, and has aluminum connectors between the sections. We're trying to find a place online to purchase these poles....anyone have any ideas?
Where does Mark have to stand in the points @ Bristol to make him run a full schedule?!? He say's the first race he will miss is the Spring race @ Bristol Motor Speedway... If he continues to have great runs like @ Daytona, Will he really step out and not compete? Are his chances @ a championship really that great @ Ginn Motorsports? A team that has only won a handful of races before! I think if he's in the TOP-3 in points as of Bristol, He races! The only thing working against this is that Martin is USE to running up near the top of the standings, even early in the season... So, Being @ the top of the standings may not even be an issue to him! Truthfully, I say theres NO WAY that the 01 US ARMY car will stay that high up in the points.. Ginn Motorsports operations arent that great! 1 good run doesnt mean SHlT! What are your thoughts?!
How old does a child have to be to buy sport tickets for? i have a 20 month old daughter and tickets to bristol motor speedway. at what age am i required to purchase a ticket for her?
Changes for all you Bristol, TN racing fans...? New state law to prohibit smoking in Bristol stands BRISTOL, Tenn. -- Bristol Motor Speedway officials are warning NASCAR fans that there will be no smoking in the stands this year. A new state law that took effect in October prohibits smoking in most public facilities, including sports arenas. Speedway spokesman Kevin Triplett says he's received a lot of complaints about the change, but also some calls from people happy about the ban. The restrictions will apply to all seating areas, terraces and restrooms but not the concourses. Smokers will be asked to extinguish cigarettes and cigars when spotted. What are fans reactions? I rarely smoke, and never goto Bristol.. but if they did this @ tracks I goto like Cali, or Vegas.. I'd prolly freak because I do enjoy a cigar or 3 during the races! Does this "tick" anyone off?
I'm going to Bristol Sunday. Does anyone think the new TN non-smoking laws will really be enforced? Curious as to the opinions on this one ... here's my perspective: (Background is this: TN just passed a state law that bans smoking in public arenas like Bristol Motor Speedway, among other places. Bristol has already sent a note out to all ticket-holders that the entire stands area will be NO SMOKING). However, we all know that smoking remains pretty popular among a segment of NASCAR fans and a lot of stadium "rules" aren't really followed a lot of the time. I don't smoke myself (though I used to) and while I can tolerate it as long as it's not purposely blown in my face, my wife is very, very sensitive (my previous answer to her complaints has been: they have the legal and moral right to smoke: if you don't like it, then you shouldn't come to the race). However, I am very pleased that this new law has passed, at least for my wife's sake. Do you think security at Bristol will enforce it? Would I cause more harm than good by complaining if someone near us is smoking? Just wanted to add a couple of responses to the answers: You may call this an "open-air" area, but in reality you have 160,000 people (no exaggeration) crammed into a very small space. Just a few smokers in one area creates a virtual cloud. It's not called "NASCAR's Bullring" for no reason. ;-) 2: mcross: do you think I would typically face retaliation for that kind of response though? I don't feel like being harrassed for the whole race or having beer dumped on me because I asked someone to smoke where the law says they need to ... I've seen that type of response from some smokers (to others, not me) in bars that have disallowed it, for example. 3) I do think the anti-smoking laws have gone too far in some instances. UNC's campus just banned smoking within 100 ft of all buildings, virtually making the campus smoke-free. It went too far, leaving virtually no place to smoke: and that IS open-air. 4) BCBaylis: I think your opinion is a little ridiculous. Yeah, people are whining about their health. It's one thing when it's legal. Often people who smoke ARE being rude to others, especially if they are violating the law. I worked hard to quit and make my lungs clean. My wife is virtually allergic ... the law is the law and I don't appreciate ANYONE being rude. BCBaylis: you sound like an 8-year-old to me, and you write like one too. Stay in school -- you need it. Lots of good answers ... Ed P, I agree with you completely and there is a smoking area near the grandstands (under them actually) -- just not in the seats themselves.
Can you pick the top 5 better than me? Here are my top 5 for the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway. 1) Matt Kenseth 2) Jeff Gordon 3) Denny Hamlin 4) Kurt Busch 5) Jimmie Johnson Pick your own 5 drivers for the race and try to get the most points (based on the actual points your driver earns) of anyone who answered and you will get the 10 points for best answer unless I have the most points, then there will be no best answer. Good luck!
More passing makes for crappier racing? Passes Double at "New" Bristol: NASCAR’s Loop Data shows green flag passing during Saturday night’s Sharpie 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway more than doubled that of the spring race at Bristol – from 991 passes in the spring to 2,147 passes Saturday night. The consensus opinion held by the drivers at the conclusion of the race rang loud and clear: the new surface at Bristol Motor Speedway met – and exceeded – expectations, as the addition of a second and third racing groove greatly increased the number of passes – and thusly, the competition. Take a look at the total passing numbers from the spring and this past weekend: 2007 Green Flag Passes at Bristol Spring, Location, Summer 184, Frontstretch, 529 128, Backstretch, 487 313, Turns 1 and 2, 571 366, Turns 3 and 4, 560 991, Total, 2,147 The 2,147 green flag passes Saturday is a 108% increase over the spring race at Bristol. http://jayski.com/cupnews.htm Explain how this is crappier racing please?!

Mears to Petty Enterprises? LONG POND, Pa. – Robbie Loomis says that Petty Enterprises is trying to find a balance between protecting its points position and preparing for the future. That's why the team has a series of drivers effectively sharing its No. 45 in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in the coming races. Loomis, Petty's vice president of racing operations, is at Pocono Raceway this weekend, where the team has Chad McCumbee entered in the race. Next week, Kyle Petty returns for the first time since the Coca-Cola 600 in May at Lowe's Motor Speedway to attempt the race at Watkins Glen International. Then two-time Cup champion Terry Labonte, who raced while Petty worked in the TNT broadcast booth for six races, will return at Michigan International Speedway. "I think the biggest thing is we have a lot of confidence in Chad and his abilities, and he's hopefully going to be part of our future, and we just feel we've got to keep giving him opportunities," Loomis said of the Pocono decision. "When you look at this race track, this is the track we brought him to last year and he won the ARCA race for us and finished 25th in the Cup race. We just feel like he's got to develop the stomach for qualifying and be able to do those tough things, so we felt like it was a good way to evaluate him." With only 44 cars on hand for this weekend's Sunoco Red Cross Pennsylvania 500, that pressure should be lessened. "It's definitely a step easier than being when we've had him in the past some," Loomis said. "We feel like it’s [the] confidence that he has in this place as much as anything. It's just fun to be able to come to this track with somebody young that hasn't felt all the nuances of this car and listen to their feedback." He said that Labonte is back in the car at Michigan because he ran the last race there. The organization is trying to figure out the issues with bump stops and the front end of the new model, so keeping something the same for a second race at the track helps with the evaluation of how the development is faring. "We felt like with Terry running the first Michigan race for us, already having the one race under his belt, that we needed to go back with another common denominator in it and it would be just asking too much, we felt like, to have Kyle come into the fold with the bump-stop situation," Loomis said. "Kind of like we did at Indy. With Kyle's road-course record, he's great on the road course. He tested Road Atlanta the other day, really had a good test, and we feel like it will be more constants for Kyle and the team versus where we were at." Beyond that, the team doesn't have plans to announce, though Loomis expects Petty to race at Bristol Motor Speedway. The group is looking to add a third car for next season and is also interested in bringing Casey Mears into the fold. Loomis said that running the third car in a minimum of seven to 15 races would be ideal. He also says the organization is definitely interested in Mears, who has announced plans to leave Hendrick Motorsports at the end of the season. It appears that Mears would be in line for the No. 45 as it is the only full-time ride available. Bobby Labonte has already signed to drive the No. 43 next season. "Mears is definitely on our list," Loomis said. "I think Mears is probably, to me, one of the top guys available in the garage." He said that Mears would be a perfect fit for the team. "He definitely brings some stability, can run real good on the road courses, and I think Casey's a very well-rounded driver, and I think he's in a real hard situation," Loomis said. "You look at a lot of drivers that are the fourth guy of a team, he's behind some real star power. It's hard not to be a little bit beat before you show up at the track."

How much of a health danger are exhaust fumes from a NASCAR race? This is related to a question I asked about whether or not Bristol Motor Speedway was likely to enforce the smoking ban that TN passed, which now applies to the stands at Bristol. Several people responded that I shouldn't be concerned about inhaling smoke when I would be breathing in exhaust fumes for 3+ hours. My question is this: From high up in the stands (I'm somewhere around Row 50), are exhaust fumes (or gas fumes or the rubber from Goodyear tires) truly as dangerous to your health as, say, a bunch of people around you smoking cigarettes? What if your seats are closer?
Spiritually speaking.............................? Ok, had to get your attention. I live near Bristol Motor Speedway and this place is crazy right now with all of the people here for that race. I don't get it, what is so exciting about watching cars go around in a circle? Is it the expectation that some might wipe out, much like the Roman sport of gladiators? You know, the death and destruction stuff? Personally it's a big problem here to my way of thinking with all of the old rude drunk people and their tin can motor homes clogging up the area, what do you think? I'm a nurse and we invariably get swamped with people too drunk to function or in car wrecks cause they think they are Dale Jr. or some other hero of a redneck sport! Would you like this type of entertainment in your back yard so to speak, and why don't they all just go home?! Respectfully of course.................... Nope i was here first not the speedway. It probably is generating more income for some people but its a pain in my neck! Very hard to go anywhere. BTW- this question was asked in jest, geeeeez! You guys make my day, i can't stop laughing!!
Is anyone going to the Bristol race on March 16th or has anyone been there???? i am going and i am so excited... i went to Lowes Motor Speedway twice last year and Indianaopolis, IN once... if you have been to Bristol tell me about how it was... i just found out today my boyfriend got his tickets!!!!!
If you were the Nascar schedule maker, what race tracks would make up the final 10 races(The Chase)? Put down the tracks that you would(as schedule maker) make up the Chase. My opinion: The Chase! Race 1 Watkins Glen Race 2:Richmond Race 3: Dover Race 4:Talladega Race 5:Bristol Race 6:Texas Race 7:Indianapolis(The Brick Yard) Race 8: Kansas Race 9: Atlanta Race 10: Charlotte Motor Speedway
Favorite NASCAR track? Atlanta vs Bristol California vs Chicagoland Darlington vs Daytona Dover vs Homestead Indianapolis vs Infineon Kansas vs Vegas Lowes Motor Speedway vs Martinsville Michigan vs New Hampshire Phoenix vs Pocono Richmond vs Dega Texas vs Watkins Glen I know you probably haven't been to all of them but which are your favorite tracks to go to (and if you haven't been to it, which do you like better to watch on tv) ones that lose their matchup are gone; then the 8 with the most votes out of the 11 go to the next round, 4, then the final
Have you ever been to a NASCAR race? If so, where?? and.. Who is your favorite driver? If you been to a few tell me which track you liked the best. I went to Charlotte twice. (It was the perfect weather. I love night races and it was in May and October. They have them at the best time there.) Indianapolis once. (It was so hot and Jeff Gordon did real sh*tty) Bristol once. (it was so cold there last year!!) We have tickets there again this year!!) _____________________ My favorite track is Lowe's Motor Speedway!! I had so much fun there. My favorite driver is JEFF GORDON!! The drive for five is on, baby!! Crazy Carl is my fiance's favorite driver.
Bristol Motor Speedway? Who besides me would like to see the race at New Hampshire moved all of the chase for the championship & be replace with the Bristol night race.
Bristol Motor Speedway...? This last race at Bristol was probably one of the most boring races I've seen so far this YEAR. Why did NASCAR mess it up? It was just fine, it was perfect racing in the old configuration. Now...it just isn't Bristol anymore. If it isn't broken, don't fix it. Am I right?
